What is the Halve Maen?
The Halve Maen is a public-private partnership to create a soft-landing for Dutch startups in the IT and Creative Industries sectors. Established as a joint venture between the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York, B-Building Business and other companies, the Halve Maen is a so-called Partnership in International Business (PIB), a program organized by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
The Halve Maen initiative supports Dutch startups in making the move to the US, via New York. This will enable companies to secure their local footing and get to scale faster, easier and in a more cost-efficient way. The Halve Maen organizes relevant meetups, events and programs to promote and position the Dutch in the NYC startup ecosystem. With this, the initiative thus serves as a platform for collaboration between Dutch and NYC-based partners.
The provided support is partially done by offering soft landing services to simplify the NL-to-US expansion process. Within the social and business ecology that will grow due to the Halve Maen, startups will have access to a wide array of knowledge, services and expertise needed to successfully enter and scale into the US market. Key to this ecology are the human connections.
